Setup/ Teardown Team Volunteer Description:

Why?

This team exists to help take ownership in setting up and tearing down inviting relevant environments where children and adults encounter Jesus and grow in their relationship with Him. 

What is the opportunity?

·      Time Commitment: 2 Sundays A Month (either 7:15am-8:30am or 12:20pm-1pm)

·      Committed to Arriving on time and consistently when scheduled

·      Ability to set up a variety of large OR small equipment (pipe & drape, chairs, roll carts, Kids equipment, etc.)

·      Willingness to be a team player      

·      Willingness to set personal preferences aside in order to accomplish Gods vision for Cornerstone

 

Cornerstone Kids Volunteer Description:

Why?

Our ministry is designed to facilitate children engaging, learning, and interacting with the truth of God's word each week. We partner with families to help their children pursue a growing relationship with God. It is our desire to utilize every minute we have with these children on Sunday morning in order to consistently introduce them to the love of Jesus Christ. 

What is the opportunity?

·      Time Commitment: 2 Sundays a month serving at either 9 or 11am with less than 30 minutes of preparation time required on the week that you serve.

Serving Sacrifice:

·      Arrive 25 minutes before your scheduled service;

·      Be prepared to teach the lesson provided;

·      Keep up to date with the kids that attend each Sunday;

·      Invest in the kids by praying for them;

·      Communicate with the Director any needs or concerns you might have.

Basic Personal Responsibilities:

·     Uphold Biblical priorities in life, in the order outlined below:

      1.      Growing personal relationship with Christ;

      2.      Relationship with spouse (if married);

      3.      Relationship with children (if applicable);

      4.      Purpose in life/ministry.

·       Develop personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church

 

Host Team Volunteer Description:

Why?

The Host Team at Cornerstone exists to create a welcoming experience for people who attend our church. We want to help others grow in their relationship with Christ through our hospitality, prayer, and acts of love. 

What is the opportunity?

·      Time Commitment: 2 Sundays a month (maybe 3 Sundays for a 5-Sunday month). Either 8:15am to 10:35am or 10:25am to 12:45pm

·      Committed to arriving on time and consistently when scheduled

·      Serve as either Greeters or Ushers: having a positive attitude and willingness to serve others are the most important qualities.

·      Provide a welcoming experience to all in how we welcome church guests, guide guests to seats, maintain a clean and pleasant environment in lobby and auditorium.

·      Willingness to set personal preferences aside in order to accomplish Gods vision for Cornerstone

 

Parking Team Volunteer Description:

Why?

The parking team has been established to provide a "front-line" service to those attending Cornerstone. Team members assist in the smooth flow of traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian, providing a sense of order and security. Greeting everyone with a smile and a "Good Morning", they help instill a warm welcome to our regular attendees and guests alike with the hope of setting the mood for a great time of worship and fellowship. 

What is the opportunity?

·      Time Commitment: 2 Sundays a month (either 8:30am-10:30am or 10:30am-12:30pm)

·      Willingness to be a team player and possess a friendly/outgoing spirit

·      Committed to arriving on time and consistently when scheduled

·      Willingness to fill-in when not scheduled and a need arises

·      Ability to set up/take down signage     

·      Willingness to set personal preferences aside in order to accomplish God’s vision for Cornerstone

 

UVA Shuttle Drivers Volunteer Description:

Why?

The UVA shuttle exists to provide a way for local college students to get to church who otherwise would not be able to come due to lack of transportation. This ministry allows our church to fulfill its vision statement by reaching people of all ages and helping them form relationships and grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus. 

What is the opportunity?

·      Time Commitment: 2 Sundays a month (Pick-up 8:30, Drop off 10:30)

·      Committed to Arriving on time and consistently when scheduled

·      Bring a smiling face and positive attitude when transporting students

·      Willingness to set personal preferences aside in order to accomplish Gods vision for Cornerstone.

 

Care Team Volunteer Description:

Why?

The Care Team exists to help build a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. A Care Team member will be passionate about prayer, seeking wisdom, discernment, and gratitude in both the church life and in their own personal life. As a Care Team member, you will: pursue your relationship with Christ through prayer and Bible reading, have the privilege of praying with first-time believers, or those facing life challenges, disciple believers, whether new or old and encourage participation in a community group, and pray for specific needs of the church that will lead to spiritual depth and growth. 

What is the opportunity?

·      Time commitment: 2 Sundays per month - 9:00 or 11:00

·      Willingness to arrive 20 minutes before the appointed service time to pray with other team members

·      Willingness to stay at least 20 minutes after the service to pray with others

·      Desire to pray with others and lead them to Christ

·      Willingness to maintain confidentiality 

 

Community Groups Leader Volunteer Description:

Why?

Community groups exist to provide people with the opportunity to connect with others and experience community, all while growing in their relationship with Christ. Our community group leaders seek to provide environments where people can experience authentic community and spiritual growth. This ministry plays a vital role in fulfilling Cornerstone's vision of helping people pursue a growing relationship with Jesus. 

What is the opportunity? 

·      Scheduling and planning for weekly community group meetings

·      Determine a meeting place for group

·      Facilitating discussing amongst group members

·      Fostering a sense of community amongst group members

·      Working with Community Group Director to find curriculum for group meetings

·      Time Commitment: Once a week (or bi-weekly, depending on the group)

 

Worship Arts Volunteer Description: 

Why?

To be a team whose purpose and desire is to lead people towards God in worship selflessly, inconspicuously, and with skill. It is to be modern day Levites, set apart for the purpose of leading God's people in worship. 

What is the opportunity?

·      Time commitment: Approx. 2 Sundays per month, 1.5hr rehearsal on Thursday’s midweek.

·      If you are interested in joining the band, vocal team, welcome / announcement team, you will audition with a member from the team to assess where you are at and if you are ready to serve in this capacity.

·      We are team players and desire to work as a unit to serve the church body in preparing the Sunday morning worship service. 

 

Media Team Volunteer Description:

Why?

This team exists in order to work behind the scenes to ensure that the lighting and everything on the video screen are run in such a way as to facilitate a clean and comfortable environment on Sunday mornings. Our goal is to minimize distractions so that worshipers can be free to             focus less on their surroundings and more on intimately connecting with God

What is the opportunity?

·      Time Commitment: usually once every three weeks; either 7:15am-12:15pm (computer) or 8:30am-12:15pm (lights).

·      Committed to arriving on time and consistently when scheduled.

·      Focused on being alert and precise during Sunday services.

·      Willingness to, at times, forego experiencing the worship services personally in the congregation in order to ensure that services run smoothly for everyone else.

 

Culture Volunteer Description:

Why?

Culture is a place where teens can grow, both spiritually and relationally. Our ministry focuses on the challenges teens face and equips them with biblical truths to overcome their struggles and have a personal encounter with God. Our goal is to develop teens who love God and seek             God's presence, and show them how to live a life that pours out Jesus' compassion to our community.

What is the opportunity?

·      Time Commitment: Sundays 5:30-7:30 (semester based, breaks for special events and holidays)

·      Committed to arriving on time and consistently when scheduled.

·      Loving having fun and building relationships with Middle and High Schools Students!

·      Willing to help facilitate discussion with teenagers (Resources Provided)
